Poolesville to Host 5th Annual SpringFest on May 16

Town Celebration Features Family Fun, Barbeque, Beer and Blues

The Town of Poolesville will host its 5th Annual “SpringFest” celebration on Saturday, May 16, from 2-7 p.m., with activities for the whole family, including musical performances, food and artisan vendors, and a beer and wine tasting tent. The event will be held in the Town’s central gathering place, Whalen Commons, located at 19701 Fisher Avenue in Poolesville.

“SpringFest is a much-welcomed Town event every year,” said Jim Brown, President of the Poolesville Town Commission. “Residents and visitors appreciate the home-town atmosphere and friendly competitions, and it’s a great way for local businesses and organizations to showcase their wares.”

As an added feature this year, Pub Dog Brewery of Westminster, and Milkhouse Brewery of Mount Airy will be sharing samples and information on their products.

Live music will be provided by The Hard Swimmin Fish and Black Betty & The Moonshine Society. Other event activities include a rock wall, a mechanical bull, a selfie booth, and a beer and wine tasting tent, for those 21 and older. There is a $20 entrance fee for the tasting tent, which includes a souvenir glass

One of the highlights each year of SpringFest is an amateur Backyard Barbecue Competition, sponsored by Jamison Real Estate. This year’s competitors will be cooking up pork ribs (spare or baby-back). Winners of the cook-off will receive cash prizes.

Sponsored by the Town of Poolesville’s SpringFest Committee, this event will also feature booths from local businesses, including Smiles 4 Miles, and Spiral Spirit Balloon Company, among others. Vendors will sell jewelry, arts and crafts and other handmade goods.

Food offerings at SpringFest will include a selection of barbecue from 3rd Alarm BBQ, Sunnyside BBQ, BUB-B-Que, and M.A.D. BBQ, along with selections from The Fry Guy and Jay Dickey Sauces. Dessert options will include Poole’s Funnel Cakes and Ben and Jerry’s ice cream.
