Purrfect Prom Pics Inspire Loners Everywhere

GERMANTOWN, MD — What do you do when you don’t have a date for prom?

Hold a mock, dress-up session complete with professional photos of the guy and gal in tuxedo and bright, pink dress.

That’s what one Germantown teen did since he couldn’t take his BFF, Ruby the cat, to prom, jokes his big sister.

Sam Steingard, 18, posed for prom photos with the family cat, Ruby. His father, Bryan Steingard, a professional photographer, shared the photos with the magazine and Patch.

Photos of the cute couple shared on Imgur by Sam's sister say, “My brother took our cat to prom. He couldn’t find a date.”

His sister, Caroline, 20, of Washington D.C., posted his photos online and the viral story has been shared more than 100,000 times, reports the Daily Mail.

One photo, apparently taken last year by the siblings' father, Bryan Steingard, shows Sam, in a tux and a pink bow tie, holding Ruby, wearing a pink dress to match Sam's tie, says Seventeen magazine.

Ruby’s adoring gaze captured fans, who commented: “I hope that someday someone will look at me the way she looks at him <3”

One reader faulted Sam for not picking up a corsage to complete Ruby’s prom outfit.

“Your brother has an awesome sense of humor, he'll do just fine in his future dating endeavor,” reassured another Imgur user.

The photogenic feline now has her own Instagram page.
