Ritchie Elementary School in Rockville was evacuated as a precaution after reports of a gasoline odor.

ROCKVILLE, MD — Ritchie Park Elementary School in Rockville was evacuated Friday as a precaution after reports of an odor, reports the Montgomery Sentinel. About 20 students were evaluated by medical personnel.

Montgomery County Fire officials told WJLA that 42 students and staff were evaluated and two who had pre-existing health conditions were taken to hospitals to be checked.

The odor of gasoline that had leaked on the parking lot near the school was blown by the wind into open windows in the school's classrooms, officials said.
