Rockville Weekend Weather: Expect Storms, Sunny Sunday

Storms will dominate the skies until Sunday, when sunny skies are expected.

ROCKVILLE, MD -- Storms are expected to be scattered throughout the area Friday afternoon, with a 30 percent chance of precipitation.

Expect a chance of storms through Saturday. Chance of precipitation on Friday and Saturday reach 90 percent, and a half-an-inch to three quarters of an inch of rain is possible.

Tonight: Scattered showers and thunderstorms, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after midnight. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Low around 72. Southwest wind 11 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Saturday: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before noon, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly between noon and 3pm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. High near 88. West wind 9 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 65. Northwest wind 5 to 9 mph.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 82. Northwest wind 6 to 9 mph.

Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 60.
