Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued for Rockville Area
The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for part of Montgomery County Monday evening.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for portions of Montgomery County. The warning expires at 5:45 p.m. ET.
At 5:05 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located over Landsdowne, moving northeast at 10 mph.
Forecasters warned of possible 60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. Expect wind damage to trees and powerlines.

Communities in the warning area include: Germantown, Rockville, Gaithersburg, Landsdowne, Poolesville, Potomac, North Potomac, Montgomery Village, Boyds, Clarksburg and Darnestown.
A severe thunderstorm by definition is a thunderstorm that produces 1-inch hail or larger in diameter and/or winds equal or exceed 58 miles an hour. During the watch, people should review severe thunderstorm safety rules and be prepared to move a place of safety if threatening weather approaches.
Rain seems fairly likely over much of this week.
