Shady Grove, Rockville Metro Stations To Close Sept. 11 to Dec. 4
Shady Grove and Rockville stations will close for metro service from Sept. 11 to Dec. 4. Bus service will run from the two stations instead.

ROCKVILLE, MD — Metro service from Shady Grove station and Rockville station will be suspended from Sept. 11 to Dec. 4 in order to replace the canopy at Rockville station. Free shuttle buses will run from those two stations to Twinbrook station, where riders can get on the metro.
Red Line trains will have normal schedules between Glenmont and Twinbrook station only, the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority said.
The new platform canopy will have the same design as the old one, with these improvements:

- brighter and more efficient LED lighting
- new public service announcement speakers
- more passenger information displays
- upgraded security cameras
MARC and Amtrak trains will operate as usual out of Rockville station.
