What Did The Annual Rockville Police Report Reveal?
The Rockville City Police Department released its annual report for 2025. Here's what the report revealed.
ROCKVILLE, MD — The Rockville City Police Department's annual report was released on Wednesday, revealing the agency saw a slight drop in crime.
Rockville Police Chief Jason West said in the filing that for 2025, the department saw an overall 4.3% drop in crime.
However, without putting trespassing incidents in the equation, the city would have recorded a 9.6% drop in overall crime.

A 14.9% drop was recorded for serious crimes against people and property.

- 552 arrests
- 371 warrants served
- 819 mental crisis calls
- 82 "use of force" incidents
- 1,790 traffic citations issued
- 12,600 parking tickets processed
- 25 criminal and civil citations filed
- 26 firearms seized, not including the 303 collected during the city's buyback event
- 6.03-minute average response time for priority calls
- 8.65-minute average response time to all calls
- 21,874 calls for service received
When it comes down to officers who were assaulted while on duty, the report outlined 10 incidents. "The highest number since 2015, which also had 18 officers assaulted," reads the report.
The agency's top priorities were defined by growth and community engagement.
West said the Rockville City Police Department's improved figures "reflects our transformation from a reactive law enforcement agency to one that proactively reduces crime and enhances public safety."
"As we look ahead, 2025 laid the groundwork for new initiatives in 2026," he said in the report.
A total of 13 new officers and a deputy chief of police were brought aboard, as the bureau's number of sworn officers rose to 73.
Eight officials were also promoted within the leadership rankings.
