Folger McKinsey’s Girls on the Run Celebrate Sweet 16

One team of Folger McKinsey students came together for a picture in celebration of the Sweet 16th birthday of Girls on the Run International.  Pictured are, Bottom row: Olivia Wright, Caroline Smith, Siena DeCicco, Karry Kelliher, Sarah Smith, and Kylie Benz.

Top row: Sarah Jeffers, Jillian Murphy, Nadia AlJunaidi, Mackenzie Burfoot, Julia Persinger, Madeline Myers, and Kate Myers.  Also on this team but pictured separately are sisters Grace and Brady Cavanagh.

Girls on the Run combines healthy life lessons with fun training for the culminating 5K running event.  Girls in 3rd through 5th grade meet twice weekly with their volunteer parent coaches who are trained and certified to follow the formal Girls on the Run curriculum. The girls and coaches discuss such topics as making healthy decisions, the concept of gratitude, bullying awareness, and peer pressure, to name just a few.  This non-profit program inspires girls to be “joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experienced-based curriculum which creatively integrates running.”  The Folger students pictured here are building new friendships, making memories, and staying healthy inside and out!
