Local Skimboarder wins the World Championship of Amateur Skimboarding in his age division

Local skimboarder, Alex Sheckells, age 8 (Shipley's Choice, Millersville, MD) recently won first place in his age division at the Sea Witch Skim and Surf Fest competition last weekend in Dewey Beach, DE (Saturday, October 27, 2012).

In August, he won first place in his age division in the 31st Annual Zap World Championship of Amateur Skimboarding in Dewey Beach, DE, and earned the title of East Coast Champion for Skim USA in his age division based on his consecutive first and second place finishes in skimboarding competitions along the east coast this past season in Melbourne Beach FL, Dewey Beach DE, Sea Bright NJ, and Nags Head NC.

He also loves to surf and won second place in his first surfing competition this July in the 10 and under age division in Corolla, NC.
