Falcons Name Eric Milton New Baseball Coach

Severna Park High School has named former major league pitcher Eric Milton as their new baseball coach.

Milton played baseball at the University of Maryland from 1994-96 and then was drafted in the first round by the New York Yankees. He played for 11 seasons in the majors and was 89-85 with a 4.99 ERA. He threw a no-hitter in 1999 as a member of the Minnesota Twins.

Athletic director Wayne Mook told The Capital Gazette, "Severna Park High School and the Falcon athletic department are very pleased to announce the hiring of Mr. Eric Milton as our new head varsity baseball coach.

“Coach Milton brings a wealth of Major League Baseball experience in addition to experience coaching at the college level for the University of Maryland since 2011.”

According to The Baltimore Sun, Milton served as a volunteer assistant coach at Maryland since last September and was the Terps interim coach during the summer.

Milton is replacing Bob Felts, who led the Falcons to the Class 4A East Region Final last year. According to The Capital Gazette, Felt spent six years as an assistant to Jim McCandless who compiled a 208-71 record with three state titles in 12 seasons. McCandless died in January.
