Top 5: Sofi's Crepes Coming, Local Student Honored

A shop that specializes in all things crepes has plans to open up in Severna Park in July.

1. Sofi’s Crepes Coming to Severna Park
Sofi’s Crepes
will open at 560 Baltimore Annapolis Blvd., next to The Big Bean. The Severna Park location is owned by Abby Larkin. The shop claims to have “mastered the art of crepes” and hopes to open in July, according to its Facebook page.

Split Ends Salon raised $2,300 for suicide prevention on May 4 with its inaugural Morgan Beverly Festival. The event featured raffles, activities for kids and business vendors in an effort to raise money for the Morgan Beverly Suicide Prevention Foundation.

In April, the Good Neighbors Group hosted a quarter auction to raise funds for a medical clinic in Nueva San Jose, Guatemala. The event and less than a month after the auction, the clinic has a roof.

4. Local Student Wins Distinguished Teaching Candidate Award
Severna Park High grad and Chartridge resident Brad Absher was recognized by the Maryland Association of Teacher Educators on Saturday when he received the Distinguished Teacher Candidate Award,

Folger McKinsey Elementary recently earned its third green school certification, and Benfield Elementary earned it's second. In addition, six Anne Arundel County schools received green school recognition for the first time.
