1 Suspect Arrested, Another Still At-Large In Silver Spring Carjacking
Montgomery County Police arrested a District man in connection with an armed carjacking and the armed robbery of a Popeyes restaurant.

SILVER SPRING, MD — Montgomery County Police arrested 30-year-old Keyren Chester Ross of Washington D.C. in connection with an armed carjacking and armed robbery that occurred Nov. 10 in Silver Spring, according to a police release. Detectives are working to identify a second suspect in this case.
Officers responded around 9:06 p.m., to the unit block of White Oak Vista Court in Silver Spring for the report of an armed carjacking, according to police
A preliminary investigation revealed that two men wearing dark clothing and black ski masked approached a delivery driver as he was walking back to his car. One of the men pointed a black handgun at the victim and demanded his property and car. The two men drove off in the victim's gray 2019 Honda Accord.

Around 9:23 p.m., police responded to the report of an armed robbery at the Popeyes restaurant located at 11311 Lockwood Drive in Silver Spring.
Two men, whom police identified as the suspects wanted in the armed carjacking, entered the restaurant, pulled out a black handgun, and demanded money from the cashier, according to police. The suspects pointed the gun at a second employee, who'd come to the front after hearing loud screaming. That employee complied with the demands of the suspects and opened the restaurant safe. The suspects left the restaurant with an undisclosed amount of cash and drove off in the Honda Accord.

With the help of the Metropolitan Police Department and the Prince George’s County Police helicopter, Guardian 1, the Honda Accord was located in Washington, D.C. The driver, whom police identified as Ross, was taken into custody after a brief foot chase.
After being taken to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, Ross was charged with armed robbery and armed carjacking related charges, according to police.
Police described the second suspect as a Black man, who stood about 5-foot-5 or 5-foot-6 and had a slim build. He was wearing all black clothing and gray sneakers. Police say the suspect may frequent the White Oak area and Washington, D.C.
