3 Firefighters Among 17 Injured In Silver Spring Apartment Fire
Firefighters on Saturday were called to a fire at Arrive Silver Spring, a 15-story apartment building located at 8750 Georgia Ave.

SILVER SPRING, MD — Three firefighters were among 17 people injured in a three-alarm fire at a Silver Spring apartment building on Saturday, fire officials said.
Montgomery County Fire Chief Scott Goldstein said firefighters were called to a fire at Arrive Silver Spring, located at 8750 Georgia Ave., shortly before 6 a.m. When firefighters arrived, they found a large column of smoke coming from the rear of the 15-story building, Goldstein said at a news conference.
Goldstein said the fire originated on the 7th floor of building A. Arrive Silver Spring is comprised of two buildings, he said, and houses as many as 1,300 people in 450 apartments.

Firefighters worked to evacuate multiple residents, including some who were trapped in their apartments due to smoke.
The fire was extinguished by 10:30 a.m., Goldstein said.

A total of 17 residents were treated at local hospitals — 10 were taken by medics with injuries ranging from critical to not life-threatening, while seven people drove themselves to the hospital, Goldstein said.
Three firefighters were also taken to the hospital with injuries.
The fire remains under investigation. Fire officials have not speculated on a cause.
Displaced residents are sheltering at the nearby DoubleTree by Hilton hotel. Several organizations including Montgomery County Emergency Management are providing assistance.
