2 Charged With Murder After Man's Body Found In Silver Spring Woods

Two Silver Spring men are charged in connection with the September shooting death of 35-year-old Carlos Alberto Ortiz.

SILVER SPRING, MD — Two people are facing murder charges after police said they fatally shot a man whose body was found in a wooded area in Silver Spring.

Jimmy Hernandez-Morales, 24, and William Jaminton Pavon-Mancock, 27, both of Silver Spring, are both charged with first- and second-degree murder and other counts in the shooting death of 35-year-old Carlos Alberto Ortiz of Silver Spring, Prince George's County police said in a release.

According to police, officers were called to the 9200 block of New Hampshire Avenue around 4 p.m. on Sept. 14 for a reported shooting. When officers arrived, they found Ortiz in a wooded area suffering from gunshot wounds.

Ortiz died at the scene, police said.

According to a preliminary investigation, police said Pavon-Mancock shot the victim during a dispute. The two knew each other before the shooting, authorities said.

Both Hernandez-Morales and Pavon-Mancock were arrested and are being held without bond.
