2 MoCo Women Dead In Crash Involving Tractor-Trailer: Officials

Two women from Montgomery County were killed after their car ran a stop sign and collided with a tractor-trailer in Westminster.

SILVER SPRING, MD — Two Montgomery County women are dead after the car they were in ran a stop sign and collided with a tractor-trailer in Carroll County, authorities said.

The incident happened around 6 p.m. in the area of New Windsor Road and Medford Road.

The Carroll County Sheriff's Office said a 2012 Honda Accord was traveling south on Medford Road when it crashed into a 2019 Freightliner tractor that was pulling a 2015 Pott trailer on westbound New Windsor Road.

The driver of the Honda — Candida Odyli Tinoco Flores, 48, of Silver Spring — and the passenger — Dania Lizeth Hernandez Rauda, 52, of Rockville — were pronounced dead at the scene, according to officials.

The driver of the Freightliner was taken Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster with non-life-threatening injuries.

"Based on the initial investigation, the driver of the Freightliner does not appear to be at fault in this collision," the sheriff's office said. "There were no indications of impairment observed during the initial investigation."

An investigation is ongoing.
