3 Charged For Taking Cash Registers From 3 Silver Spring, Wheaton Businesses: Police

Montgomery County Police arrested three men in connection with a trio of early morning burglaries of Silver Spring and Wheaton businesses.

SILVER SPRING, MD — Montgomery County Police arrested three suspects in connection with a trio of commercial burglaries that took place early Thursday morning in Silver Spring and Wheaton.

Investigators determined that the suspects forced their way into and removed cash registers and cash drawers from each of the businesses, which are listed below with the approximate time of each incident:

  • Dunkin Donuts at 115 University Blvd. West in Silver Spring (2:54 a.m.)
  • Subway Sub Shop at 11331 Georgia Ave. in Wheaton (3:07 a.m.)
  • Kemp Mill Beer & Wine at 1339 Lamberton Drive in Silver Spring (3:17 a.m.)

Later that morning, police observed a stolen Kia Sol that investigators determined to be the car the suspects were driving when they forced their way into the businesses.

Following a traffic stop, officers arrested 18-year-old Jefry Stevent Padilla-Sanchez of Silver Spring; 18-year-old Josue Membreno of Washington, D.C., and 18-year-old Edward Canales of no fixed address, according to police.

Padilla-Sanchez, Membreno and Canales were each charged with multiple counts of second degree burglary, theft: $1,500 to under $25,000 and auto theft related charges, according to police.

All three suspects were taken to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where they are currently being held without bond.
