3-Month-Old Boy Tests Positive For Coronavirus In Montgomery Co.
Montgomery County officials have confirmed that a 3-month-old boy has contracted COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus.
SILVER SPRING, MD — A three-month-old boy has tested positive for the new coronavirus.
According to local health officials, the baby was treated and released from a hospital outside Montgomery County.
It is unclear how he contracted COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus, or how he is doing.

Seniors and the immunocompromised populations still remain most at risk. A majority of the people who died in both the county and state were over the age of 60 and had underlying medical conditions.

But that doesn't mean younger residents shouldn't take the virus seriously, according to Dr. Travis Gayles, the county's top health official.
"Unfortunately, this disease has no boundaries when it comes to who it affects," Gayles said. "We continue to follow up on each confirmed case of COVID-19 in the community and we are working closely with nursing homes and long-term care facilities to protect those most vulnerable in our community. We will continue to see more cases, and unfortunately we will likely see more deaths. I urge every resident of Montgomery County to take this pandemic seriously and make sure everyone is doing their part to slow the spread."
As of Friday morning, 2,758 people in Maryland have tested positive for COVID-19. Montgomery County still has the largest share of confirmed cases. The total stands at 566.
