$50K MD Lottery Ticket Bought By 'Mister Happy' At Silver Spring Store
A Maryland Lottery player from Takoma Park bought a winning $50,000 Bonus Match 5 ticket at State Line Market in Silver Spring.

SILVER SPRING, MD — An anonymous Maryland Lottery player who went by the alias of "Mister Happy," stopped by lottery headquarters in Baltimore this week to claim the $50,000 top prize in the Aug. 16 Bonus Match 5 drawing.
The Takoma Park resident told lottery officials that he was on a break from work when he decided to purchase the Bonus Match 5 ticket at the State Line Market in Silver Spring. Later that night, when he checked the $6 ticket, he realized he'd won the top-prize worth $50,000.
“I scanned the ticket on the Lottery app before heading in the house,” he said, in a release. “When it read ‘See Lottery,’ I knew I won big because that’s what it read the last time I won.”

The 58-year-old nurse told lottery officials that he planned to use his winnings to pay for his son's tuition and pay his mortgage and bills with the rest. Mr. Happy's win was the 23rd top-prize winning Bonus Match 5 ticket sold this year.
For selling the $50,000 winning ticket, State Line Market located at 7817 Eastern Ave. Northwest in Silver Spring will receive a $500 bonus from the Maryland Lottery.
