7 Teens Arrested For Auto Theft In Silver Spring: Police
Police arrested seven juveniles, ranging in age from 14 to 17, for auto theft on Wednesday morning in Silver Spring.
SILVER SPRING, MD — Montgomery County Police charged seven juveniles, ages 14-17, with auto theft in Silver Spring on Wednesday, according to a police release.
Officers responded around 7:30 a.m., for the report of a suspicious situation in the 12300 block of Livingston Street. Detectives from the Auto Crime Enforcement Section, who were already in the area investigating recent thefts of Hyundai and Kia, responded to the call as well, according to the release.
During their initial investigation, officers observed a red Hyundai Sonata driving off at a high rate of speed. It was later determined that that car had been reported stolen in Washington, D.C., according to police.

The Sonata was involved in a traffic collision nearby, and the seven juveniles tried to run away but were later taken into custody.
Police filed auto theft charges for each of the seven juveniles, before releasing them to their parent or guardian, according to the release.
