MONTGOMERY CO., MD — New charges were filed Friday over the shooting that took place earlier this week at James Hubert Blake High School in Colesville.
Montgomery County Police announced that Taric Wilson, the 17-year-old who suffered gunshot wounds to his foot and knee, is facing several charges, including:
A release issued by the police department revealed that the fight and subsequent shooting unfolded Wednesday in the school parking lot after Wilson "exchanged words" with several other teen boys.
"During the altercation, Wilson was seen holding a handgun as another teen attempted to take it from him," reads the release. "The firearm discharged during the struggle, and the individuals involved began to run from the area."
Both a school security officer and a community engagement officer stationed at the grounds responded to the incident after being flagged just before 11:30 a.m. for reports of a gun on campus.

While Wilson later put the firearm on the ground after being ordered to do so by the school security officer, the gun was picked back up by Djibia Gombo, a 19-year-old from Silver Spring.
Police said Gombo was arrested after he momentarily pointed the handgun at the officer before putting it back on the ground.
Gombo was charged Thursday with first-degree assault. The latest court records also show he was charged with possessing a loaded handgun, using a firearm in a violent crime, and handling a dangerous weapon on school property. He remains held on bond.
Wilson is being held in D.C., where he is awaiting extradition to Maryland.
The case remains under investigation.
