Attempted First-Degree Murder Charge Filed In Silver Spring Shooting

A Washington, D.C. man was charged with attempted first-degree murder in a shooting that took place July 16 in Silver Spring.

SILVER SPRING, MD — Montgomery County Police arrested 37-year-old Anthony L. Green Of Washington, D.C. in connection with a shooting that occurred on July 15 in Silver Spring.

The police investigation began shortly after 1:54 p.m., when a man suffering from apparent gunshots wounds to his torso walked into the fire station in the the 8100 block of Georgia Avenue. The man was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for life-threatening injuries.

Investigators determined that the suspect was arguing with another person in the 8100 block of Georgia Avenue and the victim intervened. During the argument, the suspect shot the victim twice, according to police.

Through their investigation, police identified Green as the suspect in the case. They obtained an arrest warrant on July 25, charging Green with attempted first-degree murder and other related charges.

On July 31, police served Green with the warrant. He was being held in Washington, D.C. on unrelated charged.
