The Studio Grooming Salon just opened it’s doors in Silver Spring! The Studio is a cage-free, by appointment salon catering to special needs, geriatric and rescue dogs. It’s perfect for pets needing special attention that big box groomers can’t provide. “It’s a scary idea to drop your dog off with strangers all day long. We have most dogs groomed in about an hour and a half and owners are free to stay if they wish. I have no idea why those other groomers need to keep your dog for eight hours. I mean... what takes them so long?” asks the owner, Sarah Watkins of Colesville.
Sarah wanted to create an environment where pets are happy to come in for grooming. ”Every detail has been specifically thought out; from the open floor plan, to extra large windows, electric tables that lower to 10” for easy step up, a ramped extra large stainless steel tub and the non-slip rubber floor. Dog’s feel comfortable to run and play when they aren’t slipping on vinyl or ceramic. We want them to have fun, sometimes it’s almost like doggy daycare,” she tells us. ”Our dogs love watching the comings and goings of our neighborhood from up on the grooming table. It’s their entertainment!”
The salon is home to two other talented groomers. Tina is certified by two Washington area grooming schools as well as canine massage school. Stacey graduated from the Maryland School of Dog Grooming. ”We only hire the best! Quality of the cut and compassionate handling is what makes us successful. We hire stylists that set incredibly high standards and their work so our haircuts speak for themselves.” The Studio staff regularly attends continuing education seminars and trade shows. ”It’s important for us to keep current on grooming trends and products. We always try to stay ahead of the curve.”
