Commercial Crane Operation Causes Lane Closures In Downtown Silver Spring This Weekend
Three southbound lanes and two left northbound lanes on US 29 will be closed this weekend, according to the State Highway Administration.
SILVER SPRING, MD — Drivers should plan ahead and expect travel delays this weekend, due to a commercial crane operation that will require lane closures in downtown Silver Spring Saturday and Sunday, the State Highway Administration announced.
All three southbound lanes and two left northbound lanes on US 29 (Colesville Road between Spring Street and Fenton Street) will be closed from midnight Saturday, Feb. 11 to no later than 5 a.m. Monday, Feb. 13.
One northbound left lane on US 29 will remain open during the crane operation. Drivers are encouraged to use MD 97 (Georgia Avenue) or MD 410 (East West Highway) as alternatives.

The lane closures are necessary to assemble a tower crane for the United Therapeutics building project on Spring Street, near the intersection of Colesville Road.
Sidewalks within the work zone will be closed throughout the weekend, and pedestrians will be directed to the safest crossings.
