COMMUNITY BRIDGES SPOTLIGHTS GIRLS, POVERTY & EDUCATION FOR INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE GIRL 2014

"Educating a girl- improves her world!"!

In 2012, the United Nations declared October 11th as the International Day of the Girl Child to raise awareness about issues concerning gender inequality around the world. October 11th is not just a day it’s a movement! On October 11, 2014, organizations across the world will be hosting rally’s to raise awareness and advocate for girls rights’ and equity. Community Bridges will participate in this world-wide venture through hosting a rally on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at Broad Acres Elementary School where speakers and performers including Community Bridges Executive Director, County Councilwoman Nancy Navarro, spoken word artists and dance performance, celebrate and advocate for continued investment to provide adequate resources and opportunities for all children and especially for women and girls.

We are calling all girls, women, and supporters of girl issue to join with us in raising a collective voice on Saturday Oct. 11th. We are declaring publicly that: “Educating a girl- improves her world!”! The rally will be held at Broad Acres Elementary School located at 710 Beacon Rd, Silver Spring, MD 20903 from 11a.m. -2 p.m.

Community Bridges (“CB”) empowers girls from diverse backgrounds to become exceptional students, positive leaders and healthy young women through after-school and out-of-school programming for elementary through high school girls and their families.
