Silver Spring Park Renovations To Be Discussed Tuesday

SILVER SPRING, MD — The Montgomery Park Staff is holding a community meeting Tuesday to gather public input on the longterm construction plan of the Long Branch-Wayne Local Park.

"The design process will focus on identifying opportunities to improve the park as an amenity for the local community, while balancing that with the challenges that accompany an active recreation facility," the Montgomery Parks website states.

Park staff put together a Preferred Concept Plan based on community feedback last year, including: adding additional parking spaces, various play areas, a new pedestrian bridge, picnic areas and more.

Construction Phase I will begin Spring 2018. This phase will cover the renovation, expansion and possible relocation of the existing playground.

Tuesday's meeting will take place at 7 p.m. at the Long Branch Community Recreation Center at 8700 Piney Branch Rd., Silver Spring.
