Dining and Dialogue Fundraiser to Support Local Low Income Families

The Dwelling Place is hosting its Dining and Dialogue event on May 13 at the Cedar Lane Unitarian Universalist Church.

The Dwelling Place is hosting its Dining & Dialogue fundraising event on Friday, May 13, 2016, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Cedar Lane Unitarian Universalist Church.

This year’s event theme—“Helping Homeless Children”—focuses on the efforts and partnerships of The Dwelling Place to provide after-school activities that ease the challenges children in homeless families experience.

Ken Jenkins, president of the Washington, D.C. Former Players Chapter of the NFL Players Association will be the event’s keynote speaker.

The event will also include a panel discussion with Gabe Albornoz, director of the Department of Recreation for Montgomery County; Jamie Lerner, director of operations at Mad Science; and Debbie L. Trent, PhD, Action in Montgomery volunteer leader for Cedar Lane Unitarian Universalist Church. They will discuss the importance of after-school activities in order to ease the challenges that children in homeless families experience. The Department of Parks, Recreation and Culture for the City of Gaithersburg will receive The Dwelling Place’s Community Heroes Award.

Tickets to attend are $50 and will include a buffet dinner, auction, raffle, and speaker presentations.
