Elderly Woman Struck, Killed By Mail Truck In Silver Spring: MCPD
An elderly woman was killed Monday after getting hit by a USPS mail truck in Silver Spring, police said.
SILVER SPRING, MD — An 81-year-old woman was killed after getting hit by a USPS mail truck in Silver Spring on Monday, according to authorities.
At approximately 6:46 p.m., Montgomery County police and fire officials responded to the 1100 block of University Blvd. W. for the report of a pedestrian-involved collision.
Rita Jo Sultan, of Silver Spring, was attempting to cross University Boulevard when she was hit by a 1990 Chevrolet USPS mail truck that was traveling westbound. It is unclear if Sultan was using a crosswalk at the time of the collision.

She was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The driver — identified as 57-year-old Thanh Van Cao, of Gaithersburg — was not injured in the accident and remained on the scene.
