Employee Attacked During Silver Spring Armed Robbery: Police

SILVER SPRING, MD — Two masked thieves were caught on surveillance video robbing a Silver Spring liquor store and assaulting an employee who tried to stop them, authorities say. Montgomery County Police have released the footage in hopes that the public can help identify the suspects.

The incident happened on Saturday, Aug. 3, at around 10:40 p.m. According to police, two people wearing masks and armed with handguns entered the Spring Beer & Wine store at 9330 Georgia Ave. and took down an employee trying to stop them in their tracks. Store surveillance video shows the suspected thieves dragging the employee to the floor. One of the suspects, seen wearing a green jacket, appears to turn over the employee and check his pockets.

Police say the two armed individuals grabbed money from the register and fled the scene in a dark-colored SUV driven by a third suspect. The third suspect did not enter the liquor store during the attack.

Anyone with information regarding these suspects or this armed robbery is asked to call police at 240-773-5100. Anonymous tipsters can also call the county's Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477). Crime Solvers is offering a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information that leads to an arrest in this case.
