MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — Brady Ebert, the former guitarist of the Baltimore band Turnstile, is accused of intentionally hitting the lead singer's father with his car and leaving him seriously injured, according to police and a report.

Ebert, 33, of Silver Spring, was arrested Tuesday and charged with attempted second-degree murder after allegedly striking a neighbor with a car last weekend, Montgomery County police said in a news release.

According to police, the incident occurred around 4:40 p.m. on Sunday in the 15000 block of Timberlake Drive. Police said Ebert was involved in an argument with his 78-year-old neighbor in the neighbor’s driveway.

During the incident, police said Ebert struck the victim with his 2001 Buick before fleeing.

In a statement shared with Rolling Stone, members of Turnstile said Ebert “used his vehicle to run over singer Brendan Yates' father [William Yates], causing severe physical trauma.”

According to Rolling Stone's report, William Yates reportedly heard Ebert honking his horn and cursing and came out of his house to warn his daughter, her husband, and their toddler to watch out for him. When Ebert allegedly swerved toward Yates, Yates reportedly threw a rock, and Ebert drove his car toward both Yates’ daughter’s family and Yates himself.

“Turnstile cut ties with Brady Ebert in 2022 in response to a consistent pattern of harmful behavior affecting himself, the band, and the community,” the band said in its statement. “After exhausting every available resource to support his access to help and recovery, a boundary ultimately had to be set when healthy communication was no longer possible and he began threatening violence."

William Yates was taken to the hospital for treatment, police said.

Police later located Ebert's Buick unoccupied with front-end damage in the 15000 block of Old Columbia Pike in Burtonsville. The car was towed to the 4th District Station for evidence processing.

After obtaining a warrant for his arrest, Ebert was located in his neighborhood and taken into custody on Tuesday. He was taken to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he is being held without bond.
