Giant Food Opens New Store, Donates $6K To 2 Silver Spring Nonprofits
Giant Food donated $6,000 to two local nonprofits to celebrate the opening of its new store on Cherry Hill Road in Silver Spring.
SILVER SPRING, MD — Giant Food celebrated the opening of its new Silver Spring store by donating $6,000 to two local nonprofits during its ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday morning.
Montgomery County Councilmember Tom Hucker, WTOP sports anchor Dave Johnson, and the mascots of the Washington Wizards and Capitals, joined Ira Kress, president of Giant Food, in presenting $3,000 checks to two charities: Manna Food Center, which provides food for the hungry in Montgomery County, and Impact Silver Spring, which advocates for racial equity, justice and liberation.
With nearly 65,000 square feet of shopping space, the new Giant Food at 12028 Cherry Hill Road in Silver Spring, offers shoppers a wide selection of amenities, including full meat and seafood service, an expanded cheese selection, and freshly made sushi and pizza. The store also has a full-service deli, floral department, and Starbucks café.

"Giant Food has been serving the Silver Spring community since 1958 and we are pleased to bring this new store that will provide a fresh space for everyone to enjoy," Kress said, in a release. "The new store is designed to bring the best products and value to the community while continuing to offer top-notch service to new and existing customers."
The Silver Spring store, which also includes a full-service Giant Pharmacy, replaces the Giant store 11701 Beltsville Drive in Beltsville.

Customers can also take advantage of Giant Food Pickup or Giant Food Delivery by placing orders on giantfood.com or the Giant Food mobile app.
The Silver Spring Giant Food is open 6 a.m.-12 a.m., Monday-Saturday, and 6 a.m.-11 p.m., on Sunday.
