SILVER SPRING, MD — A scratch-off ticket from the Maryland Lottery purchased at a Silver Spring store turned out to be a $100,000 holiday gift for a Virginia man, according to a release.

"I thought I was seeing things,” the 37-year-old Falls Church man told officials at Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore, which he visited recently to claim his prize.

The man and a few of his family members had received scratch-off tickets for holiday gifts, but his $30 instant ticket made him a big winner. He plans to use his winnings to help his family members and pay some bills.

The winning $100,000 Lucky scratch-off ticket was purchased at the Towers Market located at 1110 Fidler Lane in Silver Spring. The store will receive a $1,000 bonus from the Maryland Lottery for selling a $100,000 top-prize winning ticket.
