Grandmother's Dreams Help Her Win $50K Lottery Prize Twice

This very lucky grandmother from Silver Spring has defied the odds and won the lotto twice — all thanks to her dreams.

SILVER SPRING, MD — Lots of people dream of winning the lottery. But how many of them can say their dreams have helped them snag the top prize — twice? Not many, if I had to guess.

But it seems that one very lucky grandmother from Silver Spring has defied the odds.

The anonymous 73-year-old loyal player told Maryland lottery officials that the winning numbers from the June 27 Bonus Match 5 drawing came to her in a dream. This is the second time she's bagged $50,000 in the game's drawing because of a dream.

"The first time I won, I really needed a car. When I saw those numbers come out it took me from the floor to the ceiling," she told lottery officials.

This win also seemed to come at the right time. The night before she won, the Silver Spring resident was thinking of ways to help her grandchildren. When she woke up, she scribbled down the winning numbers from her dream and bought the lucky $6 ticket at Andy's Beer and Wine on New Hampshire Avenue.

"After the drawing, she reviewed the results and saw the winning numbers matched those from her dreams. She recalls clasping her hand over her mouth and letting out a little yelp," lottery officials said in a statement.

That $50,000 win, she says, will help her family take care of their financial needs.

"I could never enjoy a fortune if my family was in need — family are my riches," she said.
