High-Rise Fire In Downtown Silver Spring, No Injuries Reported
Firefighters were called to downtown Silver Springs after a high-rise apartment caught fire Thursday afternoon.
SILVER SPRING, MD — Firefighters were called to a high-rise fire in downtown Silver Spring Thursday afternoon.
Firefighters with the 1st Battalion report that they were called to a high-rise on First Avenue at around 3:45 p.m. and shortly afterwards found a fire inside one of the building's apartments. Crews managed to quickly extinguish the fire. They say the fire appears to have started in the apartment's dryer, and spread to the kitchen, but otherwise left the apartment intact.
No injuries have been reported.

Engine 701 (Downtown Silver Spring) arrived and found fire in the apartment in a dryer with extension into the kitchen. The fire was quickly placed under control.
