Hourslong Barricade Ends With First-Degree Charges
A barricade situation that developed in Aspen Hill over the weekend ended with charges after a SWAT was called to the scene.

SILVER SPRING, MD — Daniel Abraha, a 29-year-old man, was hit with charges over the weekend after a barricade situation that ran for hours in Aspen Hill.
Abraha is facing first-degree assault and malicious destruction of property. Authorities say additional charges are pending.
A release by the Montgomery County Police Department said officers responded to the 14100 block of Punch Street just after 3:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Officers were initially responding to a "domestic related incident." However, authorities later found that Abraha had barricaded himself inside the residence.
"To resolve the situation peacefully, negotiators attempted to speak for hours with Abraha, who was alone inside the residence and refused to comply with officers' requests to speak with them or their commands to leave the house," MCPD said in a release.

It was not until about 9:30 p.m. that SWAT personnel took Abraha into custody after entering the home.
At the time, residents were urged to avoid the immediate area of the incident.
