Immerse Yourself in Sea Music at the Capital Maritime Music Fest
Celebrating the music and folklore of maritime communities with a day of family-friendly activities and an evening concert.

Celebrate the lure and lore of the sea at the Second Annual Capital Maritime Music Fest, Washington, DC’s only maritime music festival, which takes place on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at the Naval Heritage Center, 701 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, Washington, DC.
You won’t find bogus “pirate talk” here. The Fest focuses on the authentic experience of the people who live, work and make music in our region’s maritime communities, canals and inland waterways. It highlights the long-overlooked maritime culture of the Chesapeake Bay, Potomac River and C&O Canal.
Participants will enjoy an afternoon of musical performances, workshops, children’s activities and more, topped off with a concert in the evening. This year’s featured performer is John Roberts. Our line-up includes Former Battlefield Band members Alan Reid and Rob Van Sante, Piedmont Harmonica Virtuoso Phil Wiggins, The Navy Sea Chanters, The Washington Revels Maritime Voices, Library of Congress Folklorists Jennifer Cutting and Steve Winick, and Calico Jenny. There will be a hornpipe dancing workshop, a banjo workshop, chantey singing, children’s activities, nautical art projects and more.
