Kefa Cafe Again Brewing Coffee, Doors Open
The Silver Spring restaurant was closed after a March 2015 fire heavily damaged the building; it reopened Jan. 16.

SILVER SPRING, MD — Kefa Café, one of four restaurants heavily damaged in a March 2015 fire, held a grand reopening celebration Jan. 16.
The coffee shop at 963 Bonifant St. had initially hoped to only be out of business for a few weeks, Patch earlier reported.
More than 100 firefighters were called to the two-alarm blaze March 19 at the Quarry House Tavern, 8401 Georgia Ave. The fire destroyed the Bombay Gaylord Indian restaurant and also damaged the Mandarin Chinese restaurant and Kefa Café.

The fire’s cause was likely an electrical problem.
Total damage was estimated at $1 million for the structures.

The coffee shop’s hours are: 7 am - 5 pm, Monday through Thursday; 7 am - 9 pm Friday; 8 am - 5 pm Saturday; and 8 am - 3 pm Sunday.
