Learn the absolute basics a new gardener needs to consider when starting their first food garden!
FEARLESS FOOD Gardening Talk hosted by the Silver Spring Garden Club on Mon May 18 at 8pm

The Silver Spring Garden Club invites you to a talk on:
FEARLESS FOOD Gardening
Fearless Food Gardening sprang out of the educational efforts of teaching hundreds of people to grow their own food via the Peterson Garden Project. Early food gardening experiences can either get you hooked for life or discourage you to the point of quitting. Fearless Food Gardening is meant to do the former. This lecture talks about the absolute basics a new gardener needs to consider when starting their first food garden (plus lots of tips for more advanced gardeners).
LaManda Joy wants to inspire everyone she meets to grow their own food... seriously. She is an author, national speaker, award-winning master gardener, and considered the “Best Urban Farmer in Chicago.” Inspired by the massive WW2 Victory Garden movement she founded the Peterson Garden Project in 2010. She has collaborated on Fearless Food Gardening in Chicagoland: A Month-by-month Guide for Beginners (2013) and Start a Community Food Garden: The Essential Handbook (2015). Bring your checkboooks as she will have a limited supply of both books on sale after her talk.
She will also be speaking at the Library of Congress on Tuesday, May 19, where she will present “How Community Gardens Can Save America.”
