Leisure World of Maryland To Have Three Voting Precincts This Election Day

Leisure World of Maryland will have a third voting precinct this Election Day, a first for the recreation-oriented community for adults 55 and over. The move was done to accommodate voters after more than 7000 voted at the community in the 2012 elections.

Precinct locations are:

Inter-Faith Chapel 3680 S Leisure World Blvd, Silver Spring, MD 20906

Leisure World Clubhouse I, 3700 Rossmoor Blvd, Silver Spring, MD 20906

Leisure World Clubhouse II, 3300 N Leisure World Blvd, Silver Spring, MD 20906

Gubernatorial candidates Anthony Brown (D) and Larry Hogan (R) have both made visits to the community in recent months, as has Attorney General candidate Brian Frosh (D). Congressman Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) also visited the community in September. In 2012, the community voted 64% for Barack Obama and 35% for Mitt Romney.

Leisure World of Maryland is a private, 610-acre community for adults age 50 and over that is known for its expansive recreational facilities and opportunities. Leisure World is home to more than 8500 residents, as well as to an 18-hole golf course, medical facilities, and multiple clubhouses with restaurants, ballrooms, conveniences and other recreational and educational opportunities. Residents own their homes, paying a monthly fee that includes the entire Leisure World amenity program. The array of housing includes luxury condominiums, townhomes and single-family homes.
