Man Dies Following Assault In Silver Spring: Police

SILVER SPRING, MD — Montgomery County police are investigating a Saturday morning assault that ended in a man's death, according to authorities.

Montgomery County police said officers were called to the 800 block of University Boulevard East in Silver Spring around 12:40 a.m. in response to a possible assault. When officers arrived, they found an adult man suffering from trauma to his body.

The man was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police did not identify the victim or specify the nature of his injuries.

According to police, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Washington, D.C., will conduct an autopsy to officially determine the cause and manner of the death.

The assault remains under investigation.
