Man Driving Lawn Mower Hit, Killed By Car On MOCO Highway: Police

The 28-year-old Silver Spring man suffered serious injuries in the crash and died later at the hospital, police said.

SILVER SPRING, MD — A Silver Spring man died Tuesday when he was struck by a car while driving a lawn mower across a Montgomery County highway, police said.

According to authorities, county and Gaithersburg police were called to the area of Great Seneca Highway and High Gables Drive around 1:15 p.m. following a collision involving a black Genesis G70 and a riding lawn mower.

When police arrived they found 28-year-old Juan Guerrero-Moreno unresponsive in the road. Guerrero-Moreno suffered serious injuries in the crash and was taken to an area hospital, where he later died.

According to police, the driver of the Genesis was traveling north on Great Seneca Highway when the vehicle struck Guerrero-Moreno, who was crossing the northbound lanes on a zero-turn riding lawn mower.

The driver of the Genesis remained at the scene, police said.
