Man Found Dead As Police Called to Burglary

A Silver Spring man was found dead by his mother Saturday in the Layhill area, and the Montgomery County Police Department is treating the death as a homicide.

Detectives were called about 10:47 a.m. Saturday to the 2300 block of Eagle Rock Place for a report of a burglary with a man injured.

Officers found a deceased 26-year-old man inside the residence with obvious trauma to the top portion of his body. The victim was found by his mother, who also lives at that address, police say.

Detectives are treating the death as a homicide.

The victim’s name and the manner of death have not yet been released by authorities.
