Man Sought for Attempted Sexual Assault of Teen

Montgomery County Police have a released a sketch of a man accused of trying to assault a girl in a Briggs Chaney apartment building.

SILVER SPRING, MD — Authorities have released a sketch of a man accused of trying to sexually assault a 16-year-old girl in the Briggs Chaney area Wednesday afternoon.

About 3 p.m. Wednesday, Montgomery County Police received a report of an attempted sexual assault in the 14000 block of Castle Boulevard. The victim said as she entered her apartment building, a man asked the girl to hold the entryway door for him. Once inside the building, the man tried to engage the teen in conversation, but she pretended to be on the phone.

Police say the suspect followed the girl upstairs, then grabbed her cell phone, exposed himself, and attempted to pull her pants down. The victim’s brother, who was inside their apartment, heard his sister screaming and came to his sister’s aid.

The suspect fled from the area in a blue, compact to midsize, four-door car.

The suspect is described as a black man in his early 30s, about 5’09” to 5’10” tall, and weighing about 200 pounds. He has short hair and a beard. He was last seen wearing a teal or dark blue sweatshirt, blue jeans, and black boots.
