Maryland Weather: Good Start to Work Week

Following a weekend that was, for the most part, pretty darn pleasant, the work week presents slightly cooler temperatures but continued showings of sun. That's the word from the National Weather Service. Precipitation looms, however, later in the week.

Remember, although it hasn't felt like it the past couple of days with temperatures in the 80s, and then some, it's still late April; rather, early May. In other words, regular summer isn't here yet. And later in the week we're expected to be reminded of that.

Here's the latest forecast for our area from the National Weather Service:

Monday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms after 5pm. Patchy fog before 8am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a high near 81. South wind 11 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Monday Night: Showers and thunderstorms likely before 11pm, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm between 11pm and 2am, then a slight chance of showers after 2am. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 61. South wind 11 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 76. West wind 10 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph.

Tuesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 53. West wind 7 to 11 mph.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 68.

Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 49.

Thursday: A chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 64. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Thursday Night: Rain. Low around 56. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

Friday: Rain likely. Cloudy, with a high near 71. Chance of precipitation is 70%.
