MoCo Bank Robbery Suspect Remains At-Large Nearly 1 Year Later: Police
Police are still working to identify a man they say robbed four Montgomery County banks starting in January 2022.
SILVER SPRING, MD — Montgomery County Police detectives are asking the public's help in identifying a man wanted for a series of bank robberies that started nearly a year ago, according to a release.
The first robbery occurred around 3:18 p.m., on Jan. 18, 2022, at the Sandy Spring Bank, located in the 3500 block of Spencerville Road in Burtonsville. Police say a man slid a note demanding money to a teller, who complied by handing over an undisclosed amount of cash. The man then fled the scene in an unknown direction.

- M&T Bank in the 12200 block of Tech Road on Feb. 18, 2022, at approximately 3:20 p.m.
- Capitol One Bank in the 13300 block of New Hampshire Avenue, on March 12, 2022, at approximately 10:05 a.m.
- M&T Bank in the 12200 block of Tech Road, on Dec. 22, 2022, at approximately 3:20 p.m.
Police described the suspect as a Black man, standing 5-foot-7 to 6-feet in height and weighing about 160 to 190 pounds. During the robberies, the man wore a hooded jacket, surgical mask, and gloves. His handwritten notes stated that he had a gun and a bomb, according to police.
Anyone who knows the identity of the man wanted for these robberies or information about this case is asked to contact the Major Crimes Division by calling 240-773-5070 or 240-773-TIPS. Callers may also contact Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477). A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information that leads to the arrest of the suspects. Callers are not required to identify themselves.
