MoCo Man Charged After Sniffing Child's Feet at Dave & Buster's: Police
A Germantown man was charged with second-degree assault for a 2025 incident in which police say he smelled a child's feet.
SILVER SPRING, MD — A 30-year-old man from Germantown is facing an assault charge after police say he smelled a 10-year-old child's feet in a public area back in September.
In a Thursday release, the Montgomery County Police Department identified the man as Christopher Michael Simpson, who is accused of removing the child's socks and shoes before proceeding to smell their feet and then leave the scene.
The incident took place Sept. 25 at about 10 p.m. inside the Dave & Buster's on the 8600 block of Colesville Road in Silver Spring. Police said it specifically happened inside the arcade area within the establishment.

Simpson is now facing second-degree assault, as well as sexual assault related charges.
Investigators with the department are urging anyone with knowledge of the incident to contact detectives, as they believe additional individuals may have had run-ins with Simpson.

Those with information can contact the MCPD at (240) 773-6870 or submit a tip online through the Crime Solvers of Montgomery County, MD website. Tips, which can also be sent by calling 1-866-411-8477, are eligible for a reward of up to $10,000 if they lead to an arrest, police say.
