Montgomery Coronavirus Deaths Rise, Largest One-Day Increase Yet

Health officials have reported 30 new deaths in Montgomery County. Here's the latest coronavirus information for April 27.

SILVER SPRING, MD —Montgomery County reported 30 new coronavirus deaths on Monday, its greatest one-day increase to date, bringing the local fatality count to 190.

It is not immediately known how old the victims were when they died — or if they had underlying medical conditions. But so far, health officials say no one under the age of 20 has died from COVID-19.

In recent weeks, the Maryland Department of Health began counting "probable deaths" — or deaths of individuals who likely were infected, but never tested. Previously, deaths were only counted if they tested positive for the disease.
