Montgomery County Coronavirus Cases Rise To 1,933

As of April 15, Maryland has 10,032 confirmed cases of the coronavirus. Of those, 1,933 come from Montgomery County.

SILVER SPRING, MD — Montgomery County reported 50 new cases of novel coronavirus on Wednesday, bringing the confirmed total to 1,933.

Statewide, 10,032 people have tested positive for the respiratory illness, 45,731 have tested negative, 2,231 have been hospitalized, and 607 have been released from isolation.

On Wednesday, the Maryland Department of Health began putting deaths into two categories: confirmed deaths and probable deaths.

A probable death means the death certificate lists COVID-19 as a cause of death, but a laboratory test is still required to confirm it.

As of Wednesday morning, Maryland has 349 confirmed deaths and 64 probable deaths. In Montgomery County, health officials have reported 44 confirmed deaths and 14 probable deaths.

On Sunday, the state began posting COVID-19 cases by ZIP code on its coronavirus page.

Based on the latest figures, most of Montgomery County's cases come from Silver Spring. Those zip codes include 20904 (164 cases), 20906 (153 cases), and 20902 (147 cases).
