Multiple Charges Filed Against Silver Spring Man In Sept. 6 Shooting

SILVER SPRING, MD — Montgomery County Police recently arrested 34-year-old Elliott George Patterson in connection with a Sept. 6 shooting incident in Silver Spring, according to a police release.

Officers responded around 4:12 p.m., to the 1900 block of Treetop Lane in Silver Spring for the report of a shooting. A witness told police that they had heard an argument outside. when they looked out the window, they saw a group of young men and women arguing around a white Infiniti SUV, according to police.

When one of the men pulled a handgun out of his bag, one of the women smacked it out of his hand, the witness told police. The man then picked up the gun and fired it toward the group. Everyone fled the scene and no victims were located by police.

The white Infiniti SUV returned to the area a short time later and the victims told police the man who fired the gun was driving a black Hyundai Sonata. Through their investigation, police located the Sonata nearby and identified Patterson as the suspect wanted in the case. A witness also identified Patterson as the person who fired the handgun, according to police.

During traffic stop involving a black Hyundai Sonata on Sept. 10, officers recognized that the vehicle and Patterson were linked to the Sept. 6 shooting in Silver Spring. After Patterson consented to a search of his vehicle, police found a handgun that matched the description of the weapon from the Sept. 6 shooting.

Police arrested Patterson during the traffic stop and charged him with multiple counts of first-degree assault and reckless endangerment and multiple firearms related charges. He is currently being held without bond, according to police.
