Pedestrian Dies, Hit By Two Vehicles Near Crosswalk
Montgomery County Police have released the name of a Silver Spring woman who was hit on Randolph Road Friday.

SILVER SPRING, MD —A Silver Spring woman died from injuries suffered when two vehicles struck her as she walked across the street, Montgomery County Police said Monday.
The accident happened Friday morning at the intersection of East Randolph Road and Tourmaline Court in Silver Spring. The pedestrian, Beza K. Mesfin, 26, of the 12900 block of Tourmaline Court in Silver Spring, died on Sunday.
Investigators say Mesfin was crossing East Randolph Road southbound near Tourmaline Court. She was walking in the area of a marked crosswalk, police say.

A 2005 Ford Taurus and a 2005 Honda Pilot were traveling eastbound on East Randolph Road when, for reasons still under investigation, both vehicles struck Mesfin. The woman was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Taurus was identified as Amy Gintyryan Alexander, 55, of the 5300 block of Trailway drive in Rockville. Alexander was not injured in the collision.

The Honda Pilot was driven by Mathews Mutale, 49, of the 1200 block of East Randolph Road in Silver Spring. Mutale was not hurt.
