Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Van In White Oak Area: Police

A man was struck and killed by a van while trying to cross the street in White Oak Saturday night, police said.

SILVER SPRING, MD — A pedestrian was killed after getting hit by a van in the White Oak area Saturday, according to authorities.

Around 9:11 p.m., Montgomery County police were called to the intersection New Hampshire Avenue and Lockwood Drive for the report of a collision.

Police determined a man was trying to cross New Hampshire Avenue when, for reasons still under investigation, he was hit by a 2019 Ford Transit 250.

The driver of the Ford Transit has been identified as 39-year-old Oscar Armando Rodas-Sanchez of Adelphi. Rodas-Sanchez was not injured in the collision.

The adult male pedestrian died at the scene, police said. He will be identified after his family is notified.
